Intro

Welcome back! So….  I’ve got a story to tell. I’ve come to find that as I grew older, I became more and more insecure about my body at certain times. I became more aware and avoidant of any general flaws. I believe that when I look good, I feel good. However, I never went out of my way to pamper myself, but I do try to avoid looking “crazy” at all times. Hey, we aren’t perfect! For example, in the times when I didn’t shave my bikini line, I would avoid wearing short dresses or going swimming. For many women, it is normal for them to display their body hair. But for me personally, I could never!

I can account for the times in my life, when I was upset with the appearance of my bikini line. I grew increasingly dissatisfied with the appearance of my hyperpigmentation and accumulated razor bumps. I’ve had my fair share of razors burns either from being in a rush, or just shaving incorrectly. I’ve experienced razor bumps and ingrown hairs. It’s not a pretty site. At times, they are painful to look at. It seems as though no matter how cautiously I shave, the end result is usually never worth it. It only lasts for about 3 good days before the hair coarsely grows back, along with the itchy sensation that comes during the re-growth process. This process is pretty uncomfortable for me.

Skin care professionals recommend that women receive waxes as a better alternative to shaving. Waxes last longer and are easier on the skin. By converting to waxing, you are doing yourself a favor. You’re reducing infliction on the skin and allowing time and space for your skin to breathe and heal from past razor use.

Why Vajacials?

In my own personal experience, I’ve learned that in order to best tend to my skin, I should not only wax, but turn to Vajacials! If you are unfamiliar with what a vajacial is, a vajacial is a facial for the bikini area. Vajacials like facials, cleanse and exfoliate the bikini area and most often include extractions of ingrowns and black heads from the follicles. This leads to a smoother fresher appearance. The treatment may assist in evening out the overall skin tone.

Pre and Post Care

In order to get the most out of your vajacial, there are a few ways you should prepare for your appointment prior to arriving. The steps listed in preparation for bikini waxes are the same for a vajacial. Be sure to shower. If an esthetician (or any technician for that matter) works on an unclean surface, the quality and results of your vajacial will not last very long. Avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol as it can put your skin at risk for a higher sensitivity to pain. Alcohol can tighten your pores when you need it to relax for treatment. Lastly, wear cotton underwear (or none at all), to your appointment. It is vital to allow your skin to breathe in order to maintain the best quality treatment.

Moving onto after care, Amethyst recommends skin care from Waxing Lovely. Waxing Lovely is a professional skin care brand completely devoted to pre/post bikini care needs. Waxing Lovely prides itself on being cruelty-free, vegan, non-toxic, paraben-free, silicone-free, and made with no added fragrances. Huemetics Artistry also uses Waxing Lovely professional care for their vajacial treatments.

DAILY CARE

Shower with the Refreshing Feminine Wash. Regularly exfoliate a few times weekly, using the AHA Fruit Enzyme Exfoliating Pads. Any correctives, Ingrown Spot Treatment and the Skin Brightening Serum (which treats hyperpigmented skin) may also be used next. For hydration, apply the Replenish Body Serum with Hair Inhibitor directly after your shower. To treat and prevent ingrowns hairs and breakouts, finish with The Ingrown Potion.

Instant Soothe Vajacial

Below are the steps for the Instant Soothe Vajacial. This is a treatment that may be performed immediately after a bikini wax appointment.

  • Your esthetician will begin with steam to open up the pores, and allow your skin to detox. Steaming is approximately 10 minutes.
  • Next the Instant Soothe Exfoliating Cleanser will gently exfoliate the skin while the steam continues. The cleanser will be  removed with a warm wet disposable towel. This step may be repeated 2x if necessary.
  • Now extractions and tweezing may follow. The skin has softened with warm water and steam. This allows for the hair to easily glide out with tweezers, and for black heads to pop out much easier.
  • Afterwards, the Instant Soothe Post Extraction Solution will be applied to remove any leftover impurities.
  • Following this, the Instant Hydro Electrolyte Serum will be added with just 5-7 drops on the skin.
  • Your esthetician will then mix up the Instant Soothe Hydro Peel Mask and apply. This will sit on the skin to nourish and soothe for 10 minutes. At this time Amethyst likes to play spa music and allow clients to relax with a rose quart eye mask.
  • At the end of the 10 minutes, the mask will be removed with warm water and a disposable wet cloth. Lastly the Instant Soothe Glow & Protect Vitamin E Oil will be gently rubbed into the skin.
